How can we help?

Booking a trip or a stay? These answers cover cancellations, refunds, and what to do when plans change or something goes wrong.

How do cancellations and refunds work?

You pay in full when you book. If you cancel more than 48 hours before the start, you get your money back minus a card processing fee (currently 3 percent). If you cancel inside 48 hours of the start, the booking isn't refundable.

If your guide or lodge cancels, or the trip is cancelled for weather or safety, you get a full refund, including the card fee. The same rules apply to every guide and every lodge on WaterLynk.

A guide or lodge can always choose to refund you more than these rules require, and many will. Ask them through WaterLynk messages.

Can I change the date of my trip or stay?

Plans change, and most guides and lodges are happy to work with you. Send them a message through WaterLynk and ask. If they agree, they'll cancel your original booking and you can book your new date. When a guide or lodge cancels at your request, you get your money back in full.

Dates are up to each guide or lodge, so there's no guarantee, and that's especially true within 48 hours of the start. If you cancel on your own, our standard cancellation rules apply: refunded minus a 3 percent card fee more than 48 hours ahead, no refund inside 48 hours.

What if my guide or lodge doesn't show up?

First, try to reach them through WaterLynk messages and by the phone number in your confirmation. If you still can't reach them 30 minutes after your start time, use Report a problem from your booking or email us. Tell us what happened and we'll contact the guide or lodge right away.

If they didn't show up, you get a full refund, including the booking fee and card fee, and we'll help you find another trip or a place to stay nearby. Please report within 7 days of your start time.

Use Report a problem on your booking (in your account under your trip or stay, or from the link in your confirmation email), or write to support@mywaterlynk.com.

What if I'm running late or can't make it?

Message your guide as soon as you know. Guides typically wait up to 30 minutes past your start time. If you arrive in that window you'll still have your trip, but it ends at the original time, so you'll lose the time you missed. If you haven't arrived or contacted your guide after 30 minutes, it's treated as a no-show and the trip isn't refundable.

If you can't make it at all, the earlier you cancel the better: more than 48 hours out you get your money back minus a 3 percent card fee.

For a stay, tell the lodge before your check-in day if you'll arrive late and follow any arrival instructions in your confirmation. If you don't show up and don't contact them by the next morning, the lodge may release your room. Later nights are still charged unless the lodge's arrival instructions say otherwise.

What if my trip or stay wasn't what I expected?

We're sorry to hear that. Tell us within 48 hours of your trip or stay using Report a problem, and include what happened and what you expected.

A few things we can't refund: no fish caught, weather that is normal for the season, or a result that depends on conditions, because guides sell their time and expertise rather than a catch.

If something you were promised was missing or different (the boat, the length of the trip, what was included, or the cleanliness or safety of a stay), we'll contact the guide or lodge, ask them to make it right, and step in if needed. Please contact us before disputing the charge with your bank, since we can usually resolve it faster.

Use Report a problem on your booking (in your account under your trip or stay, or from the link in your confirmation email), or write to support@mywaterlynk.com.

Can a guide cancel or refuse my trip for safety reasons?

Yes. Your guide is responsible for everyone on board and has the final say on safety. A guide may refuse service or end a trip early if anyone seems impaired, isn't following safety instructions, or if conditions or equipment aren't safe, and no refund is owed when that is because of a guest's behavior or condition.

Please arrive sober, wear any life jacket your guide provides, and follow their instructions. If a guide turns you away for reasons other than safety, let us know through Report a problem and we'll make it right.

Can I bring more people than I booked?

Only with your guide's agreement, and it has to go through WaterLynk. Everyone on the boat must be on your booking, because the waiver and your guide's insurance cover only the people booked. If you want to add someone, message your guide first. If they agree, you'll rebook for the larger group.

A guide may turn away anyone who isn't on the booking, with no refund for those extra people. The price you saw when booking is the price you pay. If a guide asks you for more money than your confirmation shows, you don't have to pay it; please report it to us.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Your guide makes the final call on whether conditions are safe, and your safety comes first. If your guide cancels your trip because of weather or unsafe conditions, you'll get a full refund, or you can ask to move to another date. Guides usually decide the evening before or the morning of, so keep an eye on your messages and email.

A forecast alone isn't a reason for us to cancel for you, but you're welcome to ask your guide: many will if conditions look poor. If you cancel on your own, our normal cancellation rules apply.

What if there's a problem when I arrive at my lodge?

If the room isn't ready or isn't what you booked, contact the lodge right away using the phone number in your confirmation and your WaterLynk messages. They should fix it the same day with a comparable room or a refund for the affected nights.

If you can't reach them or it isn't resolved, tell us through Report a problem and we'll step in. Rooms have a maximum number of guests, so please book for everyone staying. Follow the lodge's house rules, which are in your confirmation and on the lodge's page. Guests are responsible for damage beyond normal wear.

Should I tip my guide, and how?

Tipping is optional and always up to you. Many guests tip their guide for a great day on the water, and a common range is 15 to 20 percent of the trip price for good service. Tips go directly to your guide and aren't collected through WaterLynk, so bring cash or ask your guide how they prefer to be tipped. A tip is never expected for a poor experience.

I left something behind. What do I do?

Message your guide or lodge through WaterLynk as soon as you notice. They'll do their best to find it, but WaterLynk doesn't hold items and can't guarantee they'll be recovered. For lodges, please contact them within 7 days. Return shipping, if needed, is usually at your expense; ask the lodge or guide what works for them.

Do I need a fishing license?

In most cases, yes. Each state sets its own rules, and requirements can differ for residents and visitors and for certain species. Your trip page lists what your guide includes, and your confirmation will say if a license is covered. If it isn't, buy one before your trip from the fish and wildlife agency in the state where you'll be fishing. Check with your guide if you're not sure.

Can I delete my account or get a copy of my data?

Yes. Sign in, open your account (Profile & password), and use "Your data" to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or to ask us to delete your account. A person on our team handles each request and replies by email, and may ask you to confirm it's you.

If you have upcoming bookings, they may need to be cancelled first. We may keep records we need for legal, tax and dispute reasons, such as bookings, payments and signed waivers. You can also write to support@mywaterlynk.com.

A review is unfair or breaks the rules. What can I do?

Use "Report this review" under the review on the guide's or lodge's page, tell us what's wrong (not a real customer, abusive, shares private information, or false claims), and we'll take a look. You don't need an account.

Reviews should reflect a genuine experience. We take down reviews that break the rules, such as fake or abusive ones, but a review isn't removed just because it's critical.
